The centre of the Brahma Kumaris Organization (BKO) in Brasilia is located at the Block 711 North. The space is open for public. Activities are intended for the development of personal skills and improvement of personal, family, professional and community life quality. The centre plays an important role along with the local community. It also organizes and delivers speeches and workshops to private corporations, government departments and other groups.
The courses and speeches are totally free and approach different topics with the goal of serving and assisting the local community. BKO activities are based on the premise that the construction of a better world has to go through the valuation of the human being. Self-knowledge leads the individual to self-transformation and consequentially to the manifestation of positive qualities in the community and in the world.
With such goal, the centre of Brahma Kumaris in Brasilia delivers Courses of Raja Yoga Meditation and Quality of Life. Highlighted among many others are the following courses: Achieving self-esteem; Concentration and focus; Conflict resolution; De-complicating life; Stress free living; Administration of Time; Learning to Think Positively; and Self-Management and Leadership.

Historical Background
The Brahma Kumaris Organization (BKO) started its activities in Brasilia in September 1982. The first courses of Raja Yoga Meditation were delivered at the Instituto Naturista of Brasilia. Not long after that, the BKO also extended its activities to Block 706, 710 and 715 South. In 2006, the BKO acquired its own building in Brasilia. It is located at Block 711 North. It was opened on December 05 2006 by Didi Sudesh, an Indian Senior Teacher and coordinator of the Brahma Kumaris Organization in Germany.
Highlights
Since the beginning of the activities, several events have been taking place, always with special attendance of authorities and the support of local entities and the media.
The Brasilia School received the visit of International Coordinators of the Brahma Kumaris Organization, such as Dadi Prakashmani, Dadi Janki and Dadi Gulzar. Didi Nirmala, Indian Senior Teacher, also has visited the school.
In 1986, the International Program “One Million Minutes for Peace” took place at the centre with the sponsorship of de Federal Education Secretary, and several authorities attendance, worth mentioning the presence of then President of Brazil Jose Sarney and his wife Mrs. Marly Sarney.
The International Program “Global Cooperation for a better world” also took place in Brasilia with the presences of the Ambassador and the first lady of Greece, as well as the Ambassador of India at the time.
TITLES AND MERITS
Ken O’ Donnel, coordinator of BKO for Latin America, and Cicero Sampaio, then Coordinator of the BK School in Brasilia, were decorated with the Medal of Honor to Merit in the Buriti Palace.
The ministry of Justice deferred to Brahma Kumaris the Title of Federal Public Utility, by Decree on March 09 of 2000.
