The city of Palmas has now a centre of the Brahma Kumaris Organization (BKO). The centre is located at Quadra 306 Sul Avenida LO 5 lote 17 and it is the first of its kind in the North region. Its activities have started in July 2009 and they are open for the public.
Although the school was just recently built, it is already known as a space of spiritual development that delivers knowledge and important teachings in the spiritual area. The courses and presentations are free. They approach different topics and aim promoting human values development in different areas of society. The BKO believes that the creation of a better world depends on valuing human beings and supporting their self-knowledge.
The establishment of this school in Tocantins has great significance. Tocantins is the newest State in Brazil and it is known as the heart of Brazil. Palmas is the Brazilian geodesic centre and it is only 20 years old. Its population includes people that come from almost all the other states of Brazil. Therefore, Brahma Kumaris is responding to a demand of new values formation in this process of building a new city and a new state.
