Since the beginning of its activities in Brazil, Serra Negra was chosen for the retreat activities of the Brahma Kumaris Organization in the region of São Paulo. In 1997 the original premises were increased with the construction of a large hall and amplification of the lodgings. The Serra Serena retreat centre started its activities in May, 2001, offering several courses and talks aiming the development of the being. The major wealth that one can acquire are the experiences. Serra Serena is a calm place, with pure air amidst ravishing nature which favours the experience with people who seek improvement of their character and inculcation of the study of spirituality.
It is the ideal place to obtain wonderful experiences which can enrich life. Since the beginning, the environment has been preserved. About 500 trees of the native flora have already been planted in the area and projects for recycling waste material, an organic tank, composting and renewable sources of energy are being implemented. The aim of BKO in Serra Negra is to be an example of harmonization of the human being with nature.
