Values Education aims at the development of the whole person: an approach that considers the needs of individuals at all levels of body, mind and spirit. The entire world is currently suffering from an acute crisis of diminishing values. This is of great concern to national leaders, educators and parents as more and more children and young adults are being exposed to increasing violence, social problems and lack of respect for each other and the society around them.
While there has been an over emphasis on ‘Learning to Know’ and ‘Learning to Do’, ‘Learning to Be’ and “Learning to Live Together” have been somewhat neglected. Values Education has been produced in response to the call by national leaders for a new look at Moral Education with a view towards the creation of an ‘ideal man with noble values’.
The approach is a new initiative which has been carried out in several schools, institutions of higher learning, kindergartens, orphanages, old folks’ homes and organizations, by teachers / educators / facilitators.
