Gokul

19:00:00
23/08/2008 19:00 - 20:30

Celebrate Janmashtami and take a magical journey to the childhood home of Lord Krishna.

Janmashtami is one of the most revered festivals in the Indian calendar, celebrating the birth of Sri Krishna.

The story of his birth is a dramatic one - born in a prison cell and smuggled out to escape being killed by his uncle, the evil King Hans. He was taken to the village of Gokul where he spent his childhood.

Indian tradition is rich in stories of the mischievous and playful deeds of the young Krishna together with his great acts of courage and strength.

The event will transport you back to Gokul, bringing alive the atmosphere and magic of that time.

An evening of dance, music and spiritual insights.

Transformational Leadership - Retreat for managers of social work services

00:00:00
26/09/2008 - 28/09/2008 00:00

Managing change, positively and effectively, is one of the main challenges facing any manager in social care at this present time. It is a ‘sink or swim situation’ in which competing demands for limited resources have to be reconciled with new and different ways of providing quality services.

This residential weekend at the Global Retreat Centre, Oxfordshire, will give you the opportunity to:
* consider new ways of managing change and supporting yourself and others,
* meet and share with like-minded people,
* explore and re-connect with your inner values
* experience the benefits of meditation

Speakers include:
Richard Barrett - an internationally recognised speaker, author, and consultant on values-based leadership.

Mike George - an author, international management tutor, coach and mentor working with individuals and organisations in 30 countries.

This weekend retreat is organised by a working group of social work professionals and members of the Brahma Kumaris World Spiritual University (UK).

In this seminar Caroline Ward, facilitator, meditation teacher and author, will guide us through a number of exercises to help us answer these questions and allow our unique stories to emerge..
